The parish prayer group of Oughteragh and Drumreilly Lower meets every Tuesday evening from 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM in the Prayer Room at Ballinamore Church. It is one of the standing weekly items in the parish newsletter, alongside Eucharistic Adoration on Fridays and the monthly Marian Movement cenacle, and it runs year-round rather than in terms or seasons. The next meeting falls on Tuesday 18 August 2026.
The Prayer Room is a small side space rather than the main body of the church, which keeps the gathering informal and conversational in scale. There is no charge, no registration and no requirement to commit to attending every week, so people drop in as their week allows. For anyone new to the parish or returning to it, a weekly evening group like this is usually the easiest point of contact, and the parish office can answer questions in advance. The parish also runs a separate monthly gathering, the Marian Movement of Prayer for Priests and Families, in the same room on the last Monday of each month after 7:00 PM Mass.
St. Patrick’s Church is in the centre of Ballinamore, a short walk from the main street. Ballinamore sits on the R202 in east Leitrim, about 25 minutes by car from Carrick-on-Shannon, 30 minutes from Cavan town and 40 minutes from Enniskillen. There is parking at the church itself and free public parking on the main street and near the Shannon and Erne Waterway moorings. As the group meets on a Tuesday evening, after Local Link services have finished for the day, almost everyone attending travels by car or walks in from the town.
