Glenfarne Wood parkrun is a free, timed 5k held every Saturday at 9.30am at Glenfarne Wood, Moneyduff, in north Leitrim. Like every parkrun it is put on entirely by local volunteers, costs nothing to take part in, and is open to runners, joggers and walkers alike, with no minimum pace and no pressure at the back of the field. The next run is Saturday 15 August 2026, and it continues weekly through the year.
The course uses the forest tracks of Glenfarne Wood, so it runs mostly under tree cover, a different proposition from the flat greenway and riverside courses elsewhere in the county and a good one on a wet or windy morning. You need to register once on the parkrun website before your first run, which gives you a personal barcode; volunteers scan that at the finish line to record your time, and the same barcode works at any parkrun anywhere in the world. Results are published online within a few hours. The event depends on a weekly volunteer rota for marshalling, timing, scanning and putting out the signage before the start, and anyone can put their name forward through the parkrun site instead of running.
Glenfarne Wood is just off the N16 at Glenfarne village, about 20 minutes east of Manorhamilton and a few minutes from the Fermanagh border, with Enniskillen roughly 25 minutes away. There is a car park at the forest entrance where the run starts and finishes. Bus Eireann route 466 between Sligo and Enniskillen passes through Glenfarne, but the Saturday timetable is unlikely to suit a 9.30am start, so most participants drive.
