What to Expect

The Roost brings back Smash Hits on Saturday 24 October 2026, a night built entirely around 1990s music. The start time is 8.30pm and the night runs into the early hours of Sunday. The venue bills it as its ultimate throwback night, which puts it in the same family as the over 30s eighties and nineties parties The Roost has been running through 2026.

The Roost is a large pub on Maynooth’s Main Street with several separate bars, and it took the regional Live Entertainment Venue award at the 2022 Bar of the Year Awards. The layout matters on a night like this: the venue splits its rooms so one area runs at nightclub volume while another keeps a quieter bar going, so a group that does not all want to be on the dance floor can still stay together. Anyone under 18 must leave the premises by 10pm under the venue’s house policy. Tickets are sold through Eventbrite and are non refundable.

Getting There

The Roost is on Main Street in the centre of Maynooth, directly across from the entrance to the university and a five minute walk from Maynooth railway station. Trains run on the Dublin Connolly to Maynooth and Longford commuter line, which is the easiest way in from the city, though the last services back leave well before the night ends. By car, leave the M4 at junction 7 for Maynooth and follow the R148 into the town; there are public car parks off Main Street and behind the Manor Mills centre. Taxis rank on Main Street at weekends.
