At Glenroyal Hotel and Leisure Club · Straffan Road, Maynooth, Co. Kildare W23 C2V1
Maynooth University marks 50 years of Sigersons GAA at the university with a golden jubilee evening at the Glenroyal Hotel in Maynooth on Friday 23 October 2026, running from 6.30pm to 11pm.
The centrepiece is a formal recognition of the 1976 championship winning team, with members of that side among the guests. Around it, the evening brings together former players from across five decades, current students, university staff and supporters. The programme includes presentations from GAA and university figures, reflections on how the football has changed over fifty years, and historical memorabilia on display. There is a reception followed by a plated dinner, so it is a sit-down evening rather than a standing reception, with time built in for people to find each other. Ticket pricing was not published on the listing at the time of writing; the organisers are the Maynooth University Alumni Team, contactable at alumni.events@mu.ie, and refunds are available up to 14 days before.
The Glenroyal Hotel is on the Straffan Road in Maynooth, at the edge of the town centre beside the Manor Mills shopping centre. By car, leave the M4 at junction 7 for Maynooth and follow signs for the town centre; there is parking at the hotel and in the adjoining centre. Maynooth railway station, on the Dublin Connolly to Sligo line, is a short walk away, which makes the train a good option for anyone travelling from Dublin or from Leixlip, Kilcock and Enfield on a Friday evening. Dublin Bus and Bus Eireann routes also serve Maynooth from the city and from Celbridge.
