Off to Rehearsal - Newbridge Drama Group Documentary Screening

At Riverbank Arts Centre · Main Street, Newbridge, Co. Kildare W12 D962

Cinema screen at Riverbank Arts Centre in Newbridge, County Kildare

What to Expect

Off to Rehearsal is a documentary about Newbridge Drama Group, made by Kieran Galvin, a long standing member of the group who began the project in 2018. It screens at Riverbank Arts Centre on Thursday 24 September 2026 at 7pm, in the town where both the film and its subject belong. Tickets are €10.

The film is built from interviews with past and present members of the group, tracing where they came from, what brought them to Newbridge and, in some cases, why they left again. Alongside the interviews it carries reminiscences from Newbridge natives about the town’s own history, archive footage of the group’s comedy sketches, and original music from a range of contributors including the local band The Moon and Sixpence. The result is as much a record of a Kildare town over several decades as it is a portrait of an amateur drama company. Proceeds from the screening go to the Newbridge Parish Lourdes Fund.
