What to Expect

The parish lotto is the steady fundraising engine behind Clane and Rathcoffey Parish, and the draw runs every Tuesday night at 8pm in the Parish Centre on Main Street in Clane. Tickets cost €2 each. Alongside the main jackpot there are five consolation draws of €50 each week, so the odds of coming away with something are better than the headline number suggests.

The jackpot rolls over whenever it is not won, which is what pushes it up over a run of weeks. Kfm’s Kildare Diary listed it at €6,400, and the parish’s own notices had it higher again by late July, so check the current figure before you buy. Tickets are sold by local promoters around the parish, over the counter in the Parish Shop, and online through the parish website, which means you do not have to be in the room on Tuesday night to be in the draw. Winners and the following week’s jackpot are published in the parish notices and on the parish website after each draw.

Getting There

Clane is in north Kildare on the R403 and R407, about 10 minutes from Naas, 15 from Maynooth and roughly 40 minutes from Dublin city via the M4 and junction 7 at Maynooth or the M7 and Naas. The Parish Centre is on Main Street in the middle of the village, with public parking in the village car parks and along the street. Bus services connect Clane with Naas, Sallins and Maynooth, and Sallins and Naas station on the Dublin Heuston line is the nearest rail stop, about 15 minutes away by road.
