Impossible Interview 75th Anniversary Edition at Wexford Festival Opera

At National Opera House · High Street, Wexford, Co. Wexford, Y35 FEP3

Interviewer and guest on stage at the National Opera House Wexford

What to Expect

The Impossible Interview is one of the daytime events in the Wexford Festival Opera programme, and the 75th Anniversary Edition takes place on Wednesday 21 October at 11:00 AM. The format mixes theatre, music and imagination: the audience is invited to step across time and encounter one of opera’s great figures, brought on stage rather than merely discussed.

The writer and critic Michael Dervan leads the conversation. The identity of the guest, an opera figure from history, is deliberately not announced in advance, which is the point of the format. The festival describes it as revealing, entertaining and thought-provoking, built out of wit, insight and a set of carefully chosen musical moments woven through the interview. At €15 and just over an hour in the morning, it is one of the cheaper ways into the anniversary programme and sits neatly between the morning pocket operas and the afternoon events.
