At The Burren · The Burren, north Co. Clare
Clare Sports Partnership is running a combined yoga and hike morning in the Burren on Thursday 20 August 2026, from 10am to 12.30pm. It is one of the last events in this summer’s Her Outdoors programme, the partnership’s series of women-only outdoor activity sessions across County Clare, which has also included kayaking at Scariff and O’Briensbridge, archery at Ardcarney Wood, surfing at Spanish Point, paddleboarding and beach volleyball on the west Clare strands, and rock climbing on the Burren limestone.
The two-and-a-half-hour format pairs a guided walk with a yoga session, so it is longer than most of the taster events in the programme but slower-paced than the watersports sessions. The Burren is a limestone karst landscape covering much of north Clare, with exposed pavement, grikes and terraced hills, and it demands proper footwear: the rock is uneven and can be slick after rain. The exact meeting point is confirmed to participants on booking rather than published in advance. Places are limited and several Her Outdoors sessions this summer sold out ahead of the date, so book early through the Clare Sports Partnership events page. Bring layers, water and a mat if you have one.
The Burren covers north Clare between Ballyvaughan, Corofin, Lisdoonvarna and Kinvara, reached from Ennis on the N85 and R476 or along the coast road from Galway on the N67. Ballyvaughan is roughly an hour from Ennis and about 50 minutes from Galway city. There is no practical public transport to Burren trailheads, so drive or arrange a lift. Parking at Burren walking sites is generally in small roadside or trailhead car parks, so arrive with time to spare.
