At Screene's on the Square · 9-11 Eyre Square, Galway, Co. Galway, H91 VK27
The Bentley was one of Galway’s best known nightclubs and Screene’s on the Square now occupies the same Eyre Square building. Back To The Bentley returns there for a second edition after the first sold out, with the original resident DJ, Noel Mc, back behind the decks playing the hits of the seventies, eighties and nineties. The set includes the Ration Of Passion slow sets that the club was known for, which is the detail most of the returning crowd come for.
This is a nostalgia night aimed squarely at people who were in the room the first time round, rather than a themed retro party for a younger crowd. Doors open at 8.30pm, the music runs from 9pm to 11.30pm, and the timing suits an earlier night out. It falls on Halloween night, so the city centre will be busy and taxis will be slower than usual after midnight. Tickets are sold through Eventbrite and the organisers operate a no refunds policy, so check the date before buying.
Screene’s is on Eyre Square itself, which puts it beside Ceannt Station and the Galway Coach Station on Fairgreen Road, so Irish Rail, Bus Eireann, Citylink and GoBus arrivals are all within a couple of minutes’ walk. The Eyre Square and Corbett Court multi storey car parks are the closest parking, and the Eyre Square taxi rank is on the doorstep, though on Halloween night queues build early.
