What to Expect

Made In Tennessee traces country music from its origins in the southern states through to the artists filling arenas now. The running order moves chronologically, which means it opens with Hank Williams and Johnny Cash and June Carter, works through Dolly Parton and Garth Brooks, and finishes with Carrie Underwood, Kacey Musgraves and Chris Stapleton. A cast of UK country musicians perform the whole thing live.

Soul Street Productions put the show together as a survey rather than a single-artist tribute, so the appeal is breadth: most people in the room will know something from every decade covered. It runs 120 minutes including an interval, seated, on the Town Hall main stage. Tickets are €30 with an 8pm start on the Tuesday, and it arrives three days after the Bee Gees tribute in the same room.

Getting There

Town Hall Theatre is on Courthouse Square beside the Salmon Weir Bridge, five minutes’ walk from Eyre Square by Eglinton Street and Woodquay. Drivers arrive from Dublin, Athlone, Ballinasloe and Loughrea on the M6 and N6, or from Limerick, Gort and Ennis on the M18 and N18. The Cathedral car park across the bridge is the nearest large car park, with the Corrib Shopping Centre multi-storey close by on Eglinton Street. Ceannt Station, for trains and Bus Éireann coaches, is roughly ten minutes on foot from the theatre door.
