What to Expect

Brigit’s Garden runs its Sustainable Living Skills Day on Sunday 11 October 2026, starting at 9:45am. It is a practical day rather than a talking one: the listed strands are willow basket weaving, foraging for wild food, and a range of other arts, crafts and household skills, each led by someone who does the thing for a living. The framing is straightforward, described by the garden as creative, inspiring and practical hands-on skill building aimed at helping people live more sustainably.

Brigit’s Garden sits on 11 acres of woodland, wildflower meadow and gardens at Pollagh near Rosscahill, on the Galway to Clifden road. October is a good month for the subject matter: the hedgerows are still productive for foraging and willow is coming into its cutting season. At the time of writing the garden had confirmed the date and the content but had not yet published prices or opened booking, listing the day as details and booking coming soon and asking people to join the mailing list or follow its social channels for the ticket launch. The day is supported by the SSE Airtricity Generation Green Community Fund.

Getting There

Brigit’s Garden is at Pollagh, Rosscahill, on the N59 Galway to Clifden road, about 15km northwest of Galway city and signposted from the main road. There is free parking on site. The Galway to Clifden bus route runs along the N59 through Rosscahill, but check timetables carefully for a Sunday. From Galway city take the N59 west through Moycullen; from Clifden and Connemara approach from the west on the same road; from Dublin and the midlands use the M6 and N6 to Galway and pick up the N59 there.
