What to Expect

Green Earth Organics marks twenty years of growing at Caherlea with a free sustainability festival on Saturday 12 September 2026. Doors open at 9am and the programme runs from 10am to 5pm across the 28-acre certified organic farm. The spine of the day is a set of panel discussions with food and sustainability figures including chef JP McMahon and Darina Allen of Ballymaloe Cookery School, alongside cooking demonstrations with Guardian columnist Tom Hunt.

The rest of it is the farm itself. Farm walks take visitors through how the produce is actually grown on a working organic holding in the west of Ireland, which is a different proposition from reading about it. There are food trucks with plant-based seasonal menus, tastings from local artisan producers, live music through the day and access to the farm shop. Admission is free and there is free parking on site. Children under 18 are welcome when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Tickets are issued through Eventbrite so the organisers can gauge numbers.

Getting There

Corrandulla lies north of Galway city in the country between Claregalway and Annaghdown, roughly a twenty minute drive from the city. The farm is at Caherlea with the eircode H91 F9C5, so a satnav will take you to the gate. There is free parking on site, which matters because rural bus coverage here is limited and driving or car-sharing is the realistic option. From Galway city head north on the N83 or the N17 towards Tuam and follow local signs for Corrandulla. From Tuam and the north come south on the same roads; from Dublin and the midlands use the M6 and N6 to Galway first.
