Robert Harris in Conversation with Ryan Tubridy at Black Box Theatre

What to Expect

Robert Harris writes historical thrillers that get taken seriously as history, and Ryan Tubridy interviews him about the newest one, Agrippa, a novel set in ancient Rome. Harris has been publishing since Fatherland in 1992 and the run since then includes the Cicero Trilogy, Enigma, The Ghost, An Officer and a Spy, Munich and Conclave, several of which have been adapted for film and television. Rome is territory he knows well, having spent three books there already.

The evening runs ninety minutes with no interval, and each ticket includes a signed trade paperback of Agrippa, which is a large part of the €32 price. Kennys Bookshop present it through Town Hall Theatre in the Black Box. The date falls on Culture Night in Galway, so the city will have free events running across venues earlier in the evening before this one starts at 8pm.

Getting There

The Black Box Theatre is on Dyke Road, roughly fifteen minutes’ walk north of Eyre Square past Woodquay and the Galway Sportsground. Drivers from Dublin, Athlone and Ballinasloe use the M6 and N6 and follow the Headford Road; from Limerick, Gort and Ennis take the M18 and N18. The venue has a large car park on Dyke Road, though Culture Night traffic in the city will be heavier than a normal Friday. City buses serve the Headford Road corridor and Ceannt Station is about twenty minutes on foot.
