Borneo x Ireland Cultural Exchange runs at Galway Arts Centre from Friday, 9 October to Sunday, 18 October 2026, as part of Baboró International Arts Festival for Children.
The exhibition brings together photographic portraits, Dayak beaded jewellery, headdresses, masks and weaving, connecting Indigenous schools in the Borneo rainforest with forest school communities in Ireland. It features photography of children from Arus Kualan Indigenous Schools in Borneo alongside Wild Earth in Clare and Down to Earth Forest School in Connemara, put together as part of Our Story’s partnership work. The exhibition is suitable for ages 3 and up. Galway Arts Centre runs two relaxed sessions during the run, on Sunday 11 October and Sunday 18 October, both 11am to 12pm, and a touch tour can be arranged on request through outreach@baboro.ie.
Galway Arts Centre is at 47 Dominick Street Lower, Galway City, County Galway. The centre is open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm, with a late opening on Thursday until 9pm, and Sunday 12pm to 5pm.
Galway is a city that still feels like a village underneath, a grid of medieval laneways running from Shop Street to Quay Street and lined with pubs and craft shops, with the old Claddagh fishing village folded into its western edge. Boats to the three Aran Islands also leave from Rossaveal, forty minutes west, if you want to build a longer trip around the visit. See more in Galway city, or browse everything on in County Galway.
