At The Legion Enniskillen · 2 Shore Road, Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh, BT74 7EF
Footloose Fermanagh runs a line dance class every Monday evening at The Legion in Enniskillen, from 7:30pm through to 10:00pm. The class is taught by instructor Tina Martin and has been going for more than two years, building a shared repertoire of over 60 dances in that time. It is pitched at every level, from complete beginners who have never stood on a dance floor to regulars who know the steps cold, and no partner is needed to take part.
New dances get added to the repertoire regularly, so even long-standing members are learning something most weeks rather than repeating the same handful of routines. The class runs for two and a half hours, which is long by the standards of most dance classes and reflects the fact that it doubles as a social night as much as an instructional one. Members and the venue both describe the atmosphere as informal, with the craic as much of the point as the dancing. The Legion, Enniskillen’s Royal British Legion branch, hosts the class as one of several regular social nights through the week alongside its own bar and function room, and Footloose Fermanagh occasionally runs bigger one-off social dance nights at the same venue in addition to the Monday class.
The Legion is on Shore Road in Enniskillen, close to the town centre and within easy walking distance of the main streets, with parking available at the venue for anyone driving in for the evening. Drivers reach Enniskillen on the A4 from Belfast, Dungannon and Sligo, and on the A32 from Omagh. Shore Road runs along the edge of the town’s island centre near the Round O, so it is an easy landmark to find.
