Saturday night at Blakes of the Hollow moves the music next door into the Atrium, the pub’s taller gothic-arched second bar, with a live act taking the room from 10:00 PM. It is the loudest and latest of the three weekly music nights here and leans toward a full band sound rather than the acoustic trad of Wednesday and Friday, so it draws a younger and more mobile crowd.
The advantage of the layout is that all three spaces run at once. The Hollow, the original 1887 bar at the front, stays open as a quieter room, the Atrium takes the band, and Level 7 upstairs is in use for later hours and functions. You can move between them across the night without queueing again. There is no admission charge on the regular Saturday music nights, and the act changes week to week.
Blakes sits on Church Street in the middle of Enniskillen’s island town centre, a short walk from the castle, the Erne bridges and the town’s other music pubs. Coming from Dublin or Cavan you take the A509 and then the A4, Belfast traffic runs the M1 and A4, and the A32 comes south from Omagh, both cities being about ninety minutes away. The Tesco car park on the west bank and the town centre car parks are the most practical for a Saturday night, with street parking on and around Church Street once the shops shut. Enniskillen bus station on Wellington Road is a few minutes on foot, but there is no late Translink service to the outlying villages, so arrange a taxi in advance if you are not staying in town.
