What to Expect

The River Erne 100 is a five-day coarse angling festival fished on the Public Angling Estate sections of the River Erne around Enniskillen. It is organised by Erne Anglers and sponsored by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, and it is one of the fixtures that anchors Fermanagh’s autumn angling calendar alongside the Fermanagh Feeder Classic and the Fermanagh Cup later in September.

The Erne through Enniskillen is one of the better-known coarse fisheries in Ireland, with the Public Angling Estate stretches offering established pegs and reliable access. A festival of this length draws anglers from Britain and the continent as well as locally, so the town fills for the week and accommodation books out early. If you are not fishing it, the pegs along the river are worth a walk during match hours to watch a competition of this scale in progress.

Getting There

Enniskillen sits on an island between Upper and Lower Lough Erne, and the Public Angling Estate stretches of the river run through and around the town, so most pegs are within a short drive of the centre. Drivers from Dublin and Cavan come up the A509 through Belturbet and then join the A4, Belfast traffic runs the M1 and A4, and the A32 comes south from Omagh, with either city roughly ninety minutes away. Parking varies by stretch and some access points are down narrow lanes, so allow extra time on your first morning. Enniskillen bus station on Wellington Road serves Ulsterbus and Bus Eireann, but tackle and a peg allocation effectively mean driving.
