What to Expect

Conal Gallen brings his comedy play How’s Your Father? to the Ardhowen Theatre on Saturday 7 November 2026. The story follows Bridie Murphy, who decides to open a bed and breakfast, and the stream of guests and neighbours who end up passing through her front door. A priest, a jockey and a cast of confused locals are pulled into what the production bills as a tale of love, deceit, mystery and bad food. The Ardhowen’s own listing describes it as a non-stop, laugh a minute riot of craic, confusion and constant laughter.

This is a scripted stage play rather than a stand-up set, so the comedy comes from the situation and the ensemble rather than one performer working a microphone. Gallen is a long-established name on the Irish touring comedy circuit and writes as well as stars in his own productions. The running time is two hours and five minutes, and the show carries an age guidance of 16 and over, reflecting the adult humour in the script. It is the second comedy date in the theatre’s autumn run, after Emer Maguire’s Perfectly Chaotic on 1 October, which sold out ahead of the night.

Getting There

The Ardhowen sits on the Dublin Road on the southern edge of Enniskillen, overlooking Lough Erne, and has its own car park on site. From Belfast the drive is roughly 90 minutes on the A4 through Dungannon, and from Dublin about two hours on the N3 through Cavan and Belturbet. Buses run into Enniskillen bus station in the town centre, a short taxi journey from the theatre, and the town’s hotels and restaurants are a few minutes away by car for anyone making an evening of it.
