Clones Library runs a free English class on Monday evenings from 5pm to 7pm, aimed at people whose first language is not English. The next class is Monday 17 August 2026. It is free and no booking is required.
This is the taught counterpart to the library’s daytime Fáilte Isteach conversation group, and the evening slot is deliberate: it puts the class after the working day, which is when most adults who need it can actually attend. The library describes it as instruction for language learners with multilingual support in the room, so people at an early stage are not left stranded. Two hours is long enough to do structured work on reading, writing and the vocabulary people need for forms, appointments, work and school, rather than just conversation practice. Clones sits at the western end of the county with a settled migrant population, and the class runs alongside the library’s other supports, including the Citizens Information clinic held in the same building on Monday afternoons.
