Novena to Our Mother of Perpetual Help, Dungarvan

St Mary’s Parish Church in Dungarvan is partway through its Novena to Our Mother of Perpetual Help, a run of nine consecutive Mondays that began 24 August and continues to 19 October 2026, with each session at 7:30pm. The novena is a long-standing devotion in the parish, drawing a steady congregation of regulars through the autumn weeks, built around hymns and prayers in honour of Our Lady under this title. Because the evening session takes over the usual weekday slot, the parish suspends its regular 9:30am Monday morning Mass for the duration of the novena, a detail Dungarvan Parish flags clearly in its notices so regular morning Mass-goers are not caught out. The novena runs alongside the parish’s other standing arrangements, including its Masses broadcast on 98.5FM, which continue as normal through the same weeks. Dungarvan Parish is centred on St Mary’s, one of the largest parish churches in the diocese and the hub for the town’s weekday and weekend Mass schedule. The parish also runs the same novena earlier in the year, over nine Mondays from April into June, so the August to October run is the second cycle of the devotion in the parish calendar rather than a one-off, and newcomers are welcome to join partway through.

What to expect

A weekly evening novena of hymns and prayer in honour of Our Mother of Perpetual Help, at 7:30pm each Monday through to 19 October. The next session is Monday 31 August. There is no 9:30am Mass on novena Mondays, so anyone used to the regular morning slot should plan for the evening time instead.
