What to expect

Dundalk Stadium is Ireland’s only floodlit all-weather racecourse, and it runs both horse and greyhound racing on the same site. Horse fixtures through the autumn fall on Wednesdays and Fridays, with the Wednesday cards in October, November and December listed as afternoon fixtures and the Friday cards run in the evening. Greyhound racing takes place every Friday and Saturday.

The stadium does not publish first race times this far ahead, so check the fixtures page or the stadium’s social accounts closer to the date. Doors open approximately one hour before the first horse race. The November fixtures run on Wednesday the 4th, Friday the 6th, Wednesday the 11th, Friday the 13th, Wednesday the 18th, Friday the 20th, Wednesday the 25th and Friday the 27th, with the Christmas season beginning after that.

Getting there

Dundalk Stadium is at Dowdallshill, Dundalk, Co. Louth. Coming by road, take exit 18 off the M1, take the second exit at the roundabout, then the second exit at the next roundabout onto the N52, take the first exit at the following roundabout and stay on the N52, and the stadium is on your left. There is free car parking for cars and buses.

Dundalk Clarke railway station is about 11 minutes away by car. Matthews Coaches drop off and pick up at the Marshes Shopping Centre, an eight minute drive from the stadium, and Bus Eireann also serves the town.

While you’re in Dundalk

Dundalk is the county town, midway between Dublin and Belfast, with plenty of places to eat before or after racing. There is more to see around Co. Louth.
