At Draiocht, Main Auditorium · Blanchardstown Centre, Blanchardstown, Co. Dublin
Only the published dates are confirmed for this programme.
Coolmine Musical Society, the Dublin 15 based amateur musical theatre group, stages a full run of The Addams Family at Draiocht’s Main Auditorium over five nights in November. It’s exactly the kind of home-grown community theatre that Draiocht was built to host, giving a local society a proper stage and production values for a full-scale musical rather than a school hall.
The Addams Family musical follows the well-known ghoulish television and film family through a comic plot built around a family dinner and a clash of values, staged here with a full cast, band and set across a five-night run from Tuesday to Saturday. As an amateur society production, expect the enthusiasm and community feel that comes with a cast largely drawn from the local area, backed by Draiocht’s professional theatre facilities, lighting and sound. Coolmine Musical Society has a long history of staging full musicals in Dublin 15, and a run this long suggests a substantial production.
With five nights to choose from, there’s more flexibility than a one-off touring show, and it is worth booking early for a popular title, since local amateur productions in this venue have sold well before.
Draiocht is inside the Blanchardstown Centre in Dublin 15, on regular Dublin Bus and Go-Ahead routes from the city and surrounding suburbs, with extensive parking at the Blanchardstown Centre itself.
Blanchardstown Centre itself has shops, restaurants and cafes for anyone making a night of the show, and Draiocht shares the wider civic campus with Blanchardstown Library. There is more to see across Co. Dublin.
