Smash Hits 90s Party at The Old Mill, Tallaght

The Old Mill on Old Bawn Road runs Smash Hits, a 1990s-themed party night billed as “the ultimate throwback night,” playing the venue’s usual mix of nostalgia-driven anthems for a Saturday night crowd in Oldbawn.

What to expect

The night runs a full five and a half hours, from 8pm through to 1:30am, a session typical of the venue’s weekend party format. As with the venue’s other themed nights, expect a DJ-led set built around the decade’s biggest hits rather than a live band, aimed at getting a packed dancefloor moving on 90s classics.

Nineties nostalgia nights like this one have found a bigger audience over the past year, partly on the back of Oasis’s own reunion tour through 2025, which brought renewed interest in Britpop and the wider decade’s chart music. Expect a broad nineties setlist rather than a single-genre night, mixing dance, pop and rock hits from across the decade to keep a mixed-age crowd on the floor.

Being a themed rather than one-off night, it fits into The Old Mill’s regular run of party nights through the autumn, so it’s worth checking the venue directly for whether Smash Hits becomes a repeating fixture beyond this date. Oldbawn itself sits at the southern edge of Tallaght, close to the Dublin mountains and the Dodder river valley, giving anyone making a night of it an easy daytime walk to fill the hours beforehand.
