Mechanical Wonders Live at The Hendrick

At The Hendrick Dublin · 6-11 Hendrick Street, Smithfield, Dublin 7, D07 A8N1

A live band performing at a Dublin venue

The Hendrick Dublin, on Hendrick Street between Smithfield and Stoneybatter, hosts a live set from Mechanical Wonders on Saturday 17 October. It’s a later-evening show, starting at 8:30pm, suited to anyone looking for a live gig within walking distance of Smithfield Square.

Hendrick Street itself is a quiet residential and hospitality street just off the main Smithfield/Stoneybatter thoroughfare, so this is a lower-key alternative to the bigger venues in the city centre for anyone who prefers a smaller room.

Mechanical Wonders are a five-piece indie-folk band from Blanchardstown, formed from the remains of an earlier outfit called Good Time Villains. The line-up is Richie McGrath on vocals and rhythm guitar, Brian Wolohan on lead guitar and backing vocals, Stephen Caulfield on bass, Keith McLoughlin on guitar and vocals, and Carl O’Connor on drums, blending jangly guitars and layered harmonies with folk-leaning songwriting. They released their debut EP, Wives Tales, in 2024.

What to expect

A live band performance in the venue’s function space, starting at 8:30pm on the Saturday night. The Hendrick operates primarily as a boutique hotel with a bar and event space that hosts occasional live music and other ticketed nights alongside its regular hospitality trade. The room is smaller than a standard concert venue, so expect a fairly close-up show rather than a large-scale gig, with the hotel’s bar open through the night.

Getting there

Hendrick Street runs between Smithfield and Stoneybatter, a short walk from the Smithfield Luas Red Line stop and served by Dublin Bus routes along the north quays. It’s an easy walk from the Four Courts and the city centre, and straightforward to combine with a stop in Smithfield Square beforehand.

While you’re in Dublin

Smithfield Square, the Cobblestone and the Jameson Distillery Bow St are all a few minutes’ walk away. There’s more to explore across Co. Dublin.
