Andy Irvine, formerly of Planxty and Patrick Street, joins the Swedish ensemble Quilty for a concert at the Seamus Ennis Arts Centre in the Naul on Friday 6 November 2026. Quilty describe their sound as traditional Irish music with a hint of Swedish tradition mixed in, and the band was nominated Band of the Year at the national Folk and World Music Gala in 2020. Pairing them with a musician of Irvine’s standing gives the date real weight for anyone with an interest in Irish traditional music.
A concert built around mandolin, bouzouki and vocals rather than a session in the pub sense, more a listening room than a singalong. Irvine’s back catalogue spans five decades, and the collaboration with Quilty brings a Scandinavian folk influence into otherwise familiar Irish repertoire, with the two acts trading verses and tunes across the set rather than simply splitting the bill. The venue’s small scale means the interplay between musicians carries clearly, right down to individual string work that would be lost in a bigger room.
The Naul is in north-west Fingal, close to the Meath border, with no direct rail or Dublin Bus service. The venue is best reached by car, with on-site parking. Allow roughly 45 minutes from Dublin city centre, or 20 minutes from Balbriggan or Swords.
The Seamus Ennis Arts Centre anchors most of the live music and theatre in this part of north County Dublin, alongside Killian’s Bar and open farmland on every side. For more on the area, see Naul, or browse other things to do in Co. Dublin.
