TRADFEST 2027 - Four Nights of Trad at Áras Chrónáin

At Áras Chrónáin · Watery Lane, Orchard Road, Clondalkin, Dublin 22, D22 X856

Traditional Irish musicians performing together on a small stage

Áras Chrónáin’s annual TRADFEST returns to Clondalkin in January 2027 with four separate ticketed concerts across five nights, turning the Irish-language cultural centre into one of west Dublin’s more concentrated traditional music line-ups for the week. It’s built for trad and folk fans happy to commit to a run of gigs rather than a single night out, and for regulars of the centre’s live programme who already know its performance space as an intimate, listening-room setting.

What to expect

The festival opens on Wednesday 20 January with Andy Irvine, followed by The Henry Girls on Thursday 21 January. After a night off, it resumes on Saturday 23 January with a double bill of Pádraig McGovern and Sabina McCague, and closes on Sunday 24 January with The Breath. Concerts start at 8pm, the centre’s usual start time for its ticketed evening gigs. Tickets are priced and sold separately for each night, so it’s worth deciding in advance which of the four shows to book rather than assuming a single festival pass covers all of them.

As with the centre’s other ticketed gigs, seating is limited by the size of the room, so early booking is worth it for anyone set on a particular act.

Getting there

Áras Chrónáin is just off the Nangor Road in Clondalkin village. Dublin Bus routes run from the city centre directly into Clondalkin, which is the route the centre points visitors to. On-street parking is available nearby.

While you’re in Clondalkin

Clondalkin village grew up around an early monastic site, and one of Ireland’s best-preserved round towers still stands a short walk from Áras Chrónáin. There’s more to explore across Co. Dublin beyond a week of trad music in Clondalkin village.
