Open House Dublin

At Multiple venues across Dublin · Dublin city centre

Visitors on a guided architecture tour in Dublin city centre

Open House Dublin is the city’s biggest architecture festival, a free nine day programme that gets people inside buildings they would not normally have access to, from Georgian townhouses to government offices, guided by the architects, planners and residents who know them best. It suits anyone curious about how Dublin was designed and built, not just architecture professionals, and there is no charge to take part.

What to expect

The 2026 festival runs under the theme “People, Place, Perspectives” and includes more than 200 events across the city and county: guided building tours, walking trails through particular streets or districts, talks, and family activities. Dublin 2 is always well represented, since so much of Dublin’s landmark architecture, Georgian and modern, sits within Grafton Street, Merrion Square, Dame Street and the surrounding streets. Past editions have opened up civic buildings, private offices, and historic interiors that are normally closed to the public, with tours led by the people who work in or designed the spaces. Some tours are first-come-first-served and some require booking through the festival website, so it is worth checking the programme for specific times as they are released.

Getting there

Events are spread right across Dublin city and suburbs, with a strong concentration in Dublin 2 and the surrounding city centre. Most Dublin 2 venues are within walking distance of the Luas green line stops at St Stephen’s Green and Dawson Street, and DART services into Pearse Station. Numerous Dublin Bus routes serve Dame Street, Nassau Street and Merrion Square, and city centre venues are best reached on foot or by public transport given limited parking.

While you’re in City Centre

A day spent following Open House trails pairs naturally with the rest of what Dublin 2 has to offer. There is more to see across Co. Dublin.
