Scummy Mummies: Hot Mess at The Helix

At The Helix · DCU, Collins Avenue, Glasnevin, Dublin 9

Comedy duo performing on stage

Comedy duo Scummy Mummies, Helen and Ellie, bring their new show Hot Mess to The Helix, mixing sketches, stand-up and songs on topics ranging from menopause and mansplaining to teenagers and dating apps. It suits fans of their podcast, comedy audiences who like a mix of formats rather than straight stand-up, and anyone after a night out with a franker, sweary take on parenthood and modern life. The show carries a warning for strong language and sexual content.

What to expect

Expect a fast moving hour that switches between character sketches, direct stand-up and comic songs, with the duo performing parts of the show in sparkly catsuits rather than treating it as a straight stand-up set. The duo built their following on a podcast covering parenting and everyday chaos with a comic, unfiltered voice, and the live show extends that tone to the stage, working through material on menopause, mansplaining, teenagers and dating apps rather than sticking to one theme for the hour. Because the material is frank about sex, relationships and the messier side of family life, it plays better as a night out for adults than a family friendly show.
