Handle with Care is an exhibition of sculptural work by Tom Bevan and Leontia Haldenby at Down Arts Centre in Downpatrick, opening Thursday 12 November and running to Wednesday 23 December 2026.
The exhibition is described by the venue as sculptural work that transforms familiar objects into new material experiences, with Bevan and Haldenby each exploring how meaning shifts through everyday encounters with ordinary objects. It occupies Down Arts Centre’s gallery space, which changes its programme through the year and runs alongside the venue’s theatre, music and workshop schedule rather than as a separate stand-alone gallery. Running from mid-November through to just before Christmas, the show gives visitors a good six-week window to call in, whether on a dedicated visit or alongside a ticket for one of the centre’s other autumn shows.
Down Arts Centre is on Irish Street in Downpatrick town centre, within easy walking distance of the rest of the town’s shops and heritage sites. Free car parking is available nearby, and Translink bus services connect Downpatrick to Belfast and neighbouring towns for anyone travelling without a car.
Down Arts Centre sits close to Down County Museum, Down Cathedral and the Saint Patrick Centre, so a visit to the gallery can easily be paired with the rest of Downpatrick’s heritage quarter. With the exhibition running into late December, it is also a handy stop for anyone in town doing Christmas shopping or visiting the county’s Christmas markets.
