Donegal Senior Football Championship 2026 - Round 2

What to Expect

Sixteen clubs contest the Donegal senior football championship, sponsored by Michael Murphy Sports and Leisure. The competition opens with a league phase of 32 games spread across four weekends, and round 2 falls on the weekend of Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 August 2026. The eventual winners take the Dr Maguire Cup and go forward to represent Donegal in the Ulster Senior Club Football Championship. Naomh Conaill go in as defending champions.

Round 1, played on 8 and 9 August, produced a full card of results. Naomh Conaill and Na Dúnaibh finished level at 2-13 to 0-19 at the Davy Brennan Memorial Park, St Eunan’s put away Aodh Ruadh 2-18 to 1-9 at O’Donnell Park, Gaoth Dobhair edged St Michael’s 1-13 to 0-15, and Gleann tSúilí saw off Termon 0-19 to 0-17. On the Sunday, Cill Chartha won in Ardara, Four Masters beat Na Cealla Beaga, An Clochán Liath got the better of Sean Mac Cumhaill and Gleann Fhinne beat Naomh Columba. Round 2 pairs several of those winners against each other.

• Admission is charged at the gate and varies by ground. Confirm kick-off times on donegalgaa.ie before travelling, as ties are occasionally moved.

Getting There

MacCumhaill Park sits just off the N15 in Ballybofey, roughly 20 minutes from Letterkenny and an hour from Sligo, with parking on site and on the surrounding streets. Father Tierney Park is a short walk from the centre of Ballyshannon on the N15. The western grounds at Glencolmcille, Downings and Dunfanaghy are reached on the N56 and its local roads, and a car is the only realistic option for those. Parking at club pitches is normally free, but space fills quickly for bigger ties, so arrive well before throw-in.
