At Multiple club grounds · Various locations across County Donegal
Twelve clubs contest the Donegal intermediate football championship, and the prize at the end of it is promotion to the senior grade for 2027. That makes it one of the more keenly followed competitions in the county, particularly in Inishowen and the south west, where several of the strongest intermediate sides are based. Round 2 is played on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 August 2026.
Round 1 on 8 and 9 August produced six results. Gaeil Fhánada beat Burt 1-14 to 1-8 at Páirc Uí Shiail, Carndonagh edged Buncrana 0-14 to 0-13, Naomh Náille put away Red Hughs 2-18 to 1-11 at Páirc Gearóid O’Gallachóir, Malin beat Cloughaneely 1-18 to 1-13 at Connolly Park, Realt na Mara and Naomh Pádraig Uisce Chaoin finished 0-15 to 1-14 in Bundoran, and Naomh Muire Íochtar na Rosann beat Milford 1-20 to 1-10 at The Banks. Reserve championship games are fixed for the same weekend at several of these grounds.
The Inishowen grounds at Burt, Buncrana, Carndonagh and Malin are all reached on the N13 and R238 from Letterkenny or Derry, with Buncrana about 25 minutes from Derry city. Bundoran and Ballyshannon sit on the N15 in the far south of the county and are served by Bus Eireann’s Sligo to Donegal town route. Cloughaneely, Fanad and Milford lie off the N56 and R245 in the north west, where a car is the only practical way in. Parking at all of these club pitches is free.
