At Tullan Strand · Tullan Strand, Bundoran, Co. Donegal
The Dune Run returns to Tullan Strand in Bundoran on Saturday 12 September 2026 with an 11am start. The course uses the hard sand of the beach and the dune system behind it, so it runs quite differently from a road race. Entrants choose between a 5K on the strand and a 10K Beach and Dune Challenge, which takes on the dunes as well as the sand. Discover Bundoran also lists a 5K beach walk option for people who would rather take the shorter distance at walking pace with family or friends.
Fundraising is part of the event, with proceeds going to the park development fund at Réalt na Mara GAA in Bundoran. Registration is capped, and the organisers work on a first come first served basis until that capacity is reached, so late entry on the morning is not guaranteed. Entries are handled on Eventmaster and each entry includes a race pack posted out in advance, with an event t shirt available as an optional extra rather than being included in the entry fee.
Tullan Strand lies on the northern edge of Bundoran, signposted off the N15 and within walking distance of the town centre for anyone staying locally. Bundoran is on the N15 between Sligo and Ballyshannon, roughly 35km from Sligo town and 6km from Ballyshannon. Bus Eireann route 64 and route 30 both serve Bundoran. Parking near the strand is limited on event mornings, so arriving early or walking out from the town is the easier option.
