Only the published dates are confirmed for this programme.
Halloween Prelude: A Late Summer Journey into the Roots of Halloween runs from Saturday, 5 September to Saturday, 17 October 2026, meeting at Eleanor’s Cafe in Claudy at 10am.
The Derry City and Strabane council programme lists this as a nature, literature, history and tour event exploring the older roots of Halloween, starting from Eleanor’s Cafe on Claudy’s Main Street. The council listing does not set out the content of each session beyond that categorisation, so check with the organiser for the full programme before travelling.
Eleanor’s Cafe is on Main Street, Claudy, County Derry. Claudy sits on the A6, twelve minutes (12 km) east of Derry city and twenty minutes (20 km) west of Dungiven; a bypass now carries through traffic past the village, so turn off for Main Street itself. Translink Goldline and local services between Derry and Belfast stop on Main Street roughly hourly, with a journey of around 25 minutes to Derry.
Claudy sits where the Glenrandal river meets the Faughan, with the Sperrins rising behind the village and the Faughan continuing on towards Derry. It is a small rural service centre with a handful of shops and two churches, easily combined with a day in Derry city, twelve minutes away. Main Street is also home to a memorial to the nine people killed in a bombing on 31 July 1972, a defining moment in the village’s modern history. More on Claudy and the rest of Co. Derry.
