Market Place Theatre’s monthly dementia-friendly film series closes out the year with a festive choice: A Christmas Carol, screened on Thursday 10 December 2026. The series has run right through 2026 with a classic or family favourite each month, from It Happened One Night in August to Seven Brides for Seven Brothers in September and On The Town in October, and December’s slot goes to Dickens’ best-loved festive story.
The screening runs in the Studio Theatre, set out cabaret-style with small tables rather than fixed cinema rows, so the room feels closer to a café than a conventional auditorium. Lighting is kept part-raised rather than fully dark, sound levels are kept gentle, and nobody is expected to sit still and silent for the full running time. People are free to move around, step outside, or chat quietly if they need to.
The series is designed for people living with dementia, but it is open to everyone: carers, family members and anyone who fancies a relaxed morning out with a Christmas classic. Tea, coffee and biscuits are included in the ticket price, continuing the format used across the theatre’s other dementia-friendly screenings this year.
Armagh city centre is reached via the A3 from Belfast (around 40 minutes) or the A28 from Newry. Market Place Theatre is on Market Street, a short walk from pay-and-display parking on Thomas Street and Scotch Street, and from Armagh bus station on Lonsdale Road. The venue is fully wheelchair accessible.
