The Decision to Leave by Fiona Claffey-Kelly at glor

At glor · Causeway Link, Ennis, Co. Clare

Studio theatre stage set for a solo performance at glor arts centre in Ennis

What to Expect

The Decision to Leave is a solo theatre piece written and performed by Fiona Claffey-Kelly and directed by Melissa Morrigan. It plays in the Studio at glor, the arts centre on Causeway Link in Ennis, on Friday 11 September 2026 at 8:30 PM, and runs for 30 minutes straight through. The Studio is glor’s smaller room, so the audience sits close to a single performer for the full half hour.

The story is set on a fictional island off the County Clare coast and follows a woman who has stayed while others around her have gone. The subject is the choice that faces people in emptying rural places: hold on where you are, or move to where the work and the services are. Claffey-Kelly drew the script from real stories gathered locally, and glor describes the piece as a study of quiet determination, strength and difficult decisions. At 30 minutes it is one of the shortest pieces in the venue’s autumn programme, and one of the few built entirely from Clare material.
