At Miltown Malbay Community Hall · Miltown Malbay, Co. Clare, V95 W93R
Miltown Malbay runs a ceili at the Community Hall roughly once a month, with live music rather than recordings, and the autumn 2026 run is already booked. The next date is Friday 11 September 2026, 8pm to 11pm, with Johnny Reidy, one of the most in-demand ceili band leaders in Munster. Friday 9 October 2026 runs 8pm to 11pm with the Tulla Ceili Band, the East Clare institution that has been playing for dancers since 1946. Admission is €15 for each night.
Alongside the ceilis, a weekly set dancing class runs in the same hall on Tuesday evenings from 8:15pm to 10:15pm, year round. Miltown Malbay is the home of Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy and dancing here is taken seriously, but visitors and beginners are the reason the class exists.
Miltown Malbay sits on the N67 coast road in West Clare, about 35 km west of Ennis and 8 km inland from Spanish Point beach. The Community Hall is in the town itself with on-street and nearby off-street parking. Bus Eireann route 333 links Ennis, Miltown Malbay, Lahinch and Doolin, though evening services are limited, so a car is the practical option for the Friday night ceilithe. Ennis, on the M18 and the Limerick rail line, is the nearest transport hub.
