What to Expect

The Clare Marts U13 A Hurling Championship final is fixed for Saturday 15 August 2026 at 10.30am at Cusack Park in Ennis, with St Joseph’s Doora Barefield Gortlomán against Kilmaley. It is the top grade of the county’s U13 hurling championship, the first competition in which Clare clubs field on a full pitch at county-final level, and playing it at the county ground rather than a club pitch is part of the occasion for the players involved.

Clare is one of the strongest hurling counties in Ireland and the underage club structure is where that comes from. Both finalists are established mid-Clare hurling clubs with senior sides in the county championship, and this is the first county final many of these players will have contested. Morning throw-ins are standard for U13 finals, which are often paired with other juvenile fixtures on the same day, and games at this grade are shorter than adult matches. Admission at underage county finals is nominal and taken at the gate. The B grade runs alongside it: the U13 B Hurling Plate Round 5 has Clonlara against O’Callaghan’s Mills at Clonlara the same morning at 10.30am, and the U13 B Final, Clarecastle against The Banner Ennis, follows at Cusack Park at 12 noon.

Getting There

Cusack Park is on Station Road in Ennis, about a 10-minute walk from Ennis bus and rail station and a few minutes from the town centre on foot. Ennis sits on the M18 motorway, roughly 30 minutes from Limerick, 45 minutes from Galway and just over two hours from Dublin via the M7 and M18. Street parking is available on the roads around the ground and there are town-centre car parks a short walk away, though a Saturday morning in Ennis also brings market and shopping traffic, so allow a little extra time.
