Mikel Murfi brings I Hear You and Rejoice to glor in Ennis on Friday 9 October 2026 at 8:00 PM. Murfi wrote the play and performs it alone, switching between characters across 75 minutes with no interval. It is the follow-up to his earlier one-man show about the same central figure, Pat Farnon, a cobbler who finds himself on an unexpected journey late in life.

The play turns on Kitsy, seen through the eyes of the friends and neighbours whose lives she shaped, and it moves between broad comedy and considerable weight without a set change to help it. Murfi is one of the most widely respected solo performers working in Irish theatre, and the piece has toured extensively since its first outing. It is the second collaboration between Sligo County Council Arts Services, The Hawk’s Well Theatre and Murfi himself. Audiences who saw the first play will pick up more of the references, but the show stands on its own.

Getting There

glor sits on Causeway Link on the northern side of Ennis town centre, a short walk from O’Connell Square. Drivers should exit the M18 at Ennis and follow the N85 or the local signs for the arts centre; parking is available on Causeway Link and in the town centre car parks a few minutes away. Friday evenings in Ennis are busier than midweek, so arrive early if you are driving in. Ennis bus station and rail station are together on Station Road, about fifteen minutes on foot from the venue, with Bus Eireann services from Limerick, Galway, Shannon Airport, Kilrush and Ennistymon, and Irish Rail trains on the Limerick to Galway line. Taxis usually wait around O’Connell Square after evening shows.
