What to Expect

Happiness Then plays at glor in Ennis on Wednesday 14 October 2026 at 8:00 PM. It is a comedy drama by Elizabeth Moynihan, directed by Liam Halligan and performed by Rachael Dowling and Sorcha Furlong. Bernie Bourke and Liam Halligan present the production in association with Bewley’s Cafe Theatre and Once Off Productions.

The play is a two-hander about sisters Bridget and Frances, who come back into each other’s company after their mother’s death. What follows is an hour of old grievances surfacing: abandonment, romantic histories neither has forgiven, and the question of whether the two of them can be sisters again in any real sense. The writing has been described as sharp and very sophisticated, and the performances as delivered with consummate skill. The production had support from Fishamble’s New Play Clinic and Arts Council funding. It runs 60 minutes with no interval and is recommended for ages 12 and over.

Getting There

glor is on Causeway Link at the northern edge of Ennis town centre, a short walk from O’Connell Square and the main shopping streets. By car, leave the M18 at one of the Ennis exits and follow the N85 or the signposts for the arts centre. There is parking on Causeway Link and in the town centre car parks close by, and midweek evenings are the easier nights for parking in Ennis. Ennis bus station and rail station occupy the same site on Station Road, roughly fifteen minutes on foot from glor. Bus Eireann runs into Ennis from Limerick, Galway, Shannon Airport, Kilrush and Ennistymon, and Irish Rail serves the town on the Limerick to Galway line. Check return times if you are travelling in from outside the county, as evening services finish early.
