What to Expect

Ennis Chamber’s Soapbox Breakfast is the chamber’s short format morning event, and the September 2026 edition takes place at the Old Ground Hotel on Wednesday 9 September with an 8am start. Three chamber member businesses take the floor in turn to give a brief overview of what they do, which is where the soapbox name comes from. It is a straightforward way for local firms to put themselves in front of the room without paying for a stand or a sponsorship slot.

The format runs light breakfast and open networking first, then the three presentations, then a question and answer session. That structure suits the audience it draws: owner managers, professional services firms, retailers and public sector representatives from around Ennis and the wider county who want an hour of contact time before the working day starts properly. St Francis Credit Union sponsors the September event. Attendance is free for chamber members and booking is by email rather than through a ticketing platform, with the chamber asking people to put the event name in the subject line so they can count numbers for catering.

Getting There

The Old Ground Hotel is on O’Connell Street in the middle of Ennis, a two minute walk from the town’s main shopping streets and the Height. Coming off the M18, take an Ennis exit and follow signs for the town centre. The hotel has its own car park, and the Friary and Market Place public car parks are both close by, though on-street spaces are limited on a weekday morning. Ennis railway station and the bus station are on Station Road, roughly a ten minute walk east of the hotel, with rail and Bus Eireann connections to Limerick, Galway and Dublin.
