At Shannon Golf Club · Shannon Golf Club, Shannon, Co. Clare
Clonmoney National School, near Newmarket-on-Fergus in south east Clare, is running a fundraising Golf Classic at Shannon Golf Club on Monday 24 August 2026. Teams of four play the course for an entry fee of €200, and the school has also opened tee box sponsorship at €100 for local businesses that want to put their name on a hole rather than field a team.
The money is going into a specific building project rather than general funds. Principal David McCormack has said the development will deliver two new Special Educational Needs classrooms and a central shared activity space for the school. That is the kind of capital work Irish primary schools routinely have to part fund themselves, and a golf classic is the standard vehicle for it in this part of Clare. Alongside team entries and tee sponsorship, the school is asking for donations of raffle prizes. Entries and sponsorships are handled online through Eventmaster, where teams pick their tee time from the published timesheet.
Shannon Golf Club is beside Shannon Airport in south east Clare, off the N19 airport road that runs from the N18 Limerick to Ennis dual carriageway. From Limerick it is about 25 minutes and from Ennis about 20. There is ample parking at the clubhouse. Shannon town is a five minute drive away for food and accommodation, and Bus Eireann’s Limerick to Shannon Airport services stop at the airport terminal, a short taxi ride from the course. If you are travelling from further afield, the airport itself is the obvious landmark to navigate to.
