Barbara Scully: Because I'm Worth It

At glor Irish Music Centre · Causeway Link, Ennis, Co. Clare

Solo performer speaking to an audience in a small studio theatre

What to Expect

Because I’m Worth It is a one-woman show that sits between stand-up and storytelling, with Barbara Scully working through life in her sixties and the business of finally putting herself first. The material covers the things she has decided she will no longer do, the indulgences she has decided she will, and a running thread about spa trips abroad. The show is aimed squarely at women over 40, though Scully has noted that men in the audience have taken to it too, and its argument is that older women are worth the fuss for reasons that have nothing to do with anti-ageing.

Scully is a writer and broadcaster before she is a stage performer, and the show carries that voice: it is conversational, built on anecdote, and pitched at an audience she clearly knows. It follows her 2025 debut show, Older, Bolder, Wiser, and her 2022 book Wise Up, which dealt with finding fulfilment after menopause. The Ennis performance takes place in the studio at glor rather than the main auditorium, so it is a smaller, closer room than the venue’s touring music and comedy dates, with a capacity to match. The 8:30pm start is later than most shows at the venue.
