What to Expect

Exhibition on Screen is a documentary strand made for cinemas rather than television, built around major gallery exhibitions and filmed so that the paintings themselves fill the screen at a scale a gallery visit rarely allows. Each film runs to roughly 90 minutes and combines close camera work on the pictures with curator and historian interviews, archive material and location filming at the places the artist worked. Arc Cinema Ennis programmes the strand alongside its Royal Ballet and Opera relays as part of its wider event cinema offering, and the screenings sit in the early evening rather than in the main blockbuster slots.

Three titles are scheduled at Ennis in the current run: James McNeill Whistler, Monet, and Renoir and Love. Arc lists two showings for each title, an evening screening at 6:30pm and an afternoon screening at 2:30pm. Getting There

Arc Cinema Ennis is on Parnell Street in Ennis town centre, a short walk from the main car parks and from the bus and rail station. Ennis is served by Bus Eireann routes from Limerick, Galway and Shannon Airport, and by the Limerick to Ennis rail line. Drivers coming from either direction should exit the M18 at Ennis and follow signs for the town centre, where on-street and multi-storey parking are available close to the cinema.
