What to Expect

Clones Library hosts a Citizens Information clinic every Monday afternoon from 2pm to 3.30pm, and the next one is Monday 17 August 2026. It is free, confidential and no appointment is needed. You turn up, wait your turn and talk to an information officer.

The clinic covers the standard Citizens Information ground: social welfare entitlements and how to apply, debt and money problems, employment rights, housing and tenancy questions, consumer issues and complaints. In practice a lot of what happens at a clinic like this is help getting through a form, working out which office to contact, or finding out that an entitlement exists at all. Having it in the library matters for a town at the western edge of the county, where the alternative is a phone queue or a trip to Monaghan town or Cavan. Nothing is sold and nothing is signed on the day. The clinic runs weekly through the autumn, with the library calendar confirming Monday sessions continuing through October and into November 2026.

Getting There

Clones Library is in the centre of Clones, about 20km southwest of Monaghan town on the N54 and roughly the same distance north of Cootehill. Street parking is available around The Diamond and Fermanagh Street, both a short walk from the library. Regional bus services connect Clones with Monaghan town and Cavan on weekdays, and the library is within walking distance of the stops in the town centre.
