What to Expect

The Cental Carlow U14 Football Championship is split into two groups and played on club pitches on summer evenings, which makes it one of the easier underage competitions to drop in on. Under-14 is the grade where clubs start fielding settled teams rather than mixed development squads, so the football is recognisably competitive without the physical mismatch that can come at older age groups in a small county.

Group 1 has Palatine v Eire Og at Palatine and St Martins v Rathvilly at Fighting Cocks, both at 8pm on Wednesday 12 August 2026, followed by St Patrick’s v Rathvilly at Br. Leo Park on Friday 14 August at 6.30pm. Group 2 opens with Grange v Clonmore at Grange at 7.30pm on Wednesday 12 August, then Eire Og v Railyard at the Eire Og grounds on Thursday 13 August at 7pm, O’Hanrahans v Michael Davitts at the O’Hanrahans ground on Friday 14 August at 7.30pm, and Palatine v Naomh Eoin at Palatine on Tuesday 18 August at 7pm. Getting There

Palatine is a village north-west of Carlow town off the R417, roughly ten minutes’ drive from the town centre, with parking at the club grounds. Br. Leo Park, the Eire Og grounds and O’Hanrahans are all in or immediately beside Carlow town and are walkable from the centre. Fighting Cocks is in the north of the county towards the Kildare border. Carlow town is on the M9 motorway about an hour from Dublin and has rail services from Dublin Heuston on the Waterford line. The village grounds all need a car.
