Autumn Equinox Yoga Retreat at Lisnavagh House, Rathvilly

At Lisnavagh House · Rathvilly, Co. Carlow, R93 PX61

Autumn equinox yoga retreat weekend at Lisnavagh House in County Carlow

What to Expect

Lisnavagh House marks the turn of the season with a yoga and sleep retreat led by Pam Butler over the weekend of the autumn equinox. The organisers describe the equinox as a time of preparation, the point where the focus shifts to the start of autumn, and the programme leans into that idea of balance. Sessions are hatha yoga, taught with an emphasis on moving with awareness and breathing fully and intelligently, and include alternate nostril breathing work. Yogis at every level are welcomed, so this is not pitched only at people with a long practice behind them.

The full weekend runs from Friday 18 to Sunday 20 September and includes two nights of accommodation in either the Stables Courtyard or the house itself, all tuition and the complete programme, plus all meals. There is also a Saturday day option on 19 September for people who would rather not stay over, which covers the day’s programme, lunch, refreshments and a goodie bag to take home. Lisnavagh is a working estate outside Rathvilly with walled gardens and woodland, which is a good part of the appeal at that time of year.

Getting There

Lisnavagh is on the edge of Rathvilly in north-east Carlow, signposted off the N81 that runs between Tullow and Baltinglass. Coming from Dublin, the N81 south through Blessington and Baltinglass is the direct route; from Carlow town take the N80 to Tullow and then the N81 north. There is ample parking on the estate. Public transport is thin in this corner of the county, so driving or sharing a lift is the practical option, and Carlow and Tullow are the nearest towns for taxis.
