At George Bernard Shaw Theatre, VISUAL Carlow · Old Dublin Road, Carlow, Co. Carlow, R93 A3K1
Rory’s Stories plays the George Bernard Shaw Theatre on Friday 25 September 2026 with The Good Ol’ Days, a stand-up show built around the years before phones and social media took over everyday Irish life. The material works through the shared furniture of that era: teenage discos, the characters every village produced, and following Jackie’s Army, then sets it against how much has shifted since. Grooming habits, coffee culture and the modern enthusiasm for a nature walk all come in for attention.
The show is touring across Ireland and the Carlow date is a single night. The venue bills it as an evening of stories, madness and good craic, and it carries a 16+ age rating, so it is a night out for adults rather than a family show. Tickets are €29 including the booking fee. The George Bernard Shaw Theatre is the 335 seat auditorium inside the VISUAL building, which runs a year round programme of comedy, music and drama alongside its contemporary art galleries, and the room is small enough that the back rows are still close to the stage.
VISUAL is on the Old Dublin Road on the eastern side of Carlow town, next to Carlow College. Dublin is roughly an hour away on the M9, and the N80 links the town to Wexford and the midlands. Street parking is available nearby and the town centre car parks are within a short walk. Carlow railway station on Railway Road sits on the Dublin Heuston to Waterford line and is about a 15 minute walk, with Bus Eireann services calling from Kilkenny, Waterford and Dublin. Tullow Street and the Potato Market area have plenty of places to eat before an 8:00 PM curtain.
