JJ Kavanagh and Sons Carlow Junior Hurling Championship 2026

At Naomh Eoin GAA Grounds · Myshall, Co. Carlow

Junior club hurling match on a Carlow club pitch

What to Expect

The JJ Kavanagh and Sons Junior Hurling Championship is the entry grade for adult club hurling in County Carlow, and it is the competition that keeps the smaller hurling clubs and the second teams of the bigger ones playing competitive games through August. Carlow GAA runs it in blocks of simultaneous fixtures at club grounds, so several games throw in at once and each has its own parish crowd rather than a shared audience.

Three games start at 7.30pm on Wednesday 12 August 2026: Naomh Eoin v Carlow Town Hurling Club in Myshall, Setanta Ceatharlach v Burren Rangers at Presentation College, and Mount Leinster Rangers v Ballinkillen at the Mount Leinster Rangers grounds. Naomh Brid host Naomh Moling on Thursday 13 August at 7.30pm. The round closes with four games all at 12.30pm on Sunday 16 August: Burren Rangers v Carlow Town at Kilbride, Mount Leinster Rangers v Naomh Moling at their own ground, Setanta Ceatharlach v Naomh Brid at Presentation College, and Ballinkillen v Naomh Eoin at Ballinkillen. The Sunday programme is the easier one for spectators, with daylight throw-ins and no evening travel.

Presentation College is in Carlow town itself, walkable from the centre. Everything outside Carlow town needs a car, and parking at the club grounds is on site or along the approach road.
