What to Expect

Junior C is the bottom rung of adult club football in County Carlow and the grade that keeps third and fourth teams, returning players and late starters on a pitch. Carlow GAA runs the whole round as a single simultaneous throw-in, which means five games kick off at 7.30pm on the same Wednesday evening at five different club grounds. Nothing is staggered, so if you want to see more than one you would need to pick your ground and stay put.

The five fixtures on Wednesday 19 August 2026 are Mount Leinster Rangers v St Patrick’s at the Mount Leinster Rangers grounds, Grange v Fenagh at Grange, Palatine at home at the Palatine club grounds, Fighting Cocks v Ballon at Fighting Cocks, and O’Hanrahans v Asca at the O’Hanrahans ground. Junior C games are short on ceremony and long on local edge: most of the players know each other from work, school or the parish, and the standard swings widely between clubs. Admission is usually a small gate donation rather than a set ticket price. Getting There

The grounds are spread the length of the county. Mount Leinster Rangers play near Borris in the south-east under the Blackstairs, Fighting Cocks is in the north of the county towards the Kildare border, Palatine sits north-west of Carlow town off the R417, and O’Hanrahans is in Carlow town itself. Carlow town is on the M9 about an hour from Dublin. Everything except O’Hanrahans needs a car, with parking on site or on the approach road, and the Carlow GAA fixtures page lists the exact ground for each tie.
