HER Outdoors Week 2026 in Carlow

At Various venues across County Carlow · Carlow town and Bagenalstown, Co. Carlow

Women paddleboarding on the River Barrow at Carlow Town Park

What to Expect

HER Outdoors Week is a national campaign led by Sport Ireland to get more women and girls active outdoors, and in 2026 it runs from Monday 10 to Sunday 16 August. Carlow Sports Partnership builds a county programme around it and prices the sessions at a few euro each, so cost is not the barrier. Every session is pitched at complete beginners, with instruction and equipment provided.

Four Carlow sessions are confirmed on the county events calendar. Tuesday 11 August has a Palates and Picnic walking and food session at the Bagenalstown Picnic Area from 11.30am to 1.30pm, at €7 plus a €1 booking fee, and an Introduction to Padel at the Talbot Hotel Carlow from 6pm to 7pm at €5 plus a booking fee. The padel hour is open to all ages and fitness levels and no racket-sport background is expected. Stand Up Paddleboarding on the River Barrow at Carlow Town Park runs twice, on Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 August, each from 10.30am to 1.30pm at €15 plus a €1 booking fee. The paddleboarding sessions are for women and girls aged 13 and over, capped at 16 places, and while no SUP experience is needed you do have to be comfortable in water. Bring a towel, water, sun cream, footwear you can stand on a board in, and clothes you do not mind getting wet.
